Baby Shower

Last Saturday we hosted a baby shower at our house for my sister-in-law. Shawn and Aimee are about to welcome their 3rd child at the end of July. They are such a sweet family, and I can’t wait for this baby girl to get here!

I didn't get many pictures, here is one of Aimee with her mom...

I decided to get creative with the decorations and made a diaper cake and banner with the babies name on it….so fun!
The cake turned out so cute, and was so easy to make that I made another one for one of Stuart's co-workers and his wife...

We are headed to Kansas City this weekend. We are going to a wedding reception for one of my cousin’s that got married a few weeks ago in North Carolina. We are going to make the most of the trip by visiting with as much family as possible!

Name Calling….

Do you remember the silly (sometimes naughty) names that you would make up as a kid? I was debating on even putting this post on here because I am in denial that my kids would ever say or do crude things. Then I decided that these are the funny memories that I want to remember when the girls are older and that is why I started this blog. Please do not be offended by some of the words in this post. My girls are only 3 ½ and don’t really even know what they are saying.

The name calling started off a few months ago with “Tooty Pants” and then they moved onto “Tooty Head,” but last weekend I think a line was crossed.

Like I said, lately a popular name in our house is, “Tooty Head,” followed by the sweet laughter of my two little girls. It’s so hard to be the parent in this situation, and NOT bust out laughing yourself. So, this past weekend while at Chick-Fil-A, Molly and Taylor were playing in the play area and were acting really hyper. Molly starts climbing up the stairs and says, “Come on Taylor,” and Taylor says while giggling, “Ok, Pooter-Nut.”

Pooter-Nut??? Where she came up with this, I don’t know. I swear Stuart and I do not call each other, “Pooter-Nut.” Ok, maybe we do now, but never in front of the girls...ha! When I was on the phone with my mom a little while later to tell her what she said, I could hardly breathe because I was in tears laughing at this point. I try not to react too much by the name calling and will calmly suggest other silly names to get them away from these not so nice names. I guess it could always be worse. I won’t even tell you what my brothers and sisters and I used to call each other growing up!

I’m just trying to get her to move…

Molly and Taylor were in the Kitchen last night playing with some toys on the floor. All of a sudden Molly screamed, and started to cry. She said that Taylor pulled her hair. Stuart looked at Taylor and asked her if she pulled her hair on purpose or if it was an accident. She responded, ”I just wanted her to move!” This made the both of us hold in our laughs, because she said it like it's perfectly acceptable to just pull someone by the hair if you wanted them out of your way.

Happy Birthday Nana!

Last night we had Nana (Stuart’s mom...aka. the other Melissa Tyndall) over for dinner to celebrate her birthday. Stuart grilled out some great cheeseburgers, corn on the cob, and baked beans. Nana brought over Stuart’s sisters little boy, Reggie and the rest of their family came over after my niece Tattom’s softball game for cake. As always we had a great time hanging out with all of them.

Happy Birthday Melissa!!!

I draw Whales ALL the time...

The other night Molly and Taylor where playing with sidewalk chalk. When I walked over to take a look at their artwork, Molly excitedly said, “Mommy, look I drew a Whale.” I could hardly believe that she drew something that actually looked like what it was supposed to be. I was so excited and praised her by telling her how great it was, and she looked up at me and said, “Yeah, I draw Whales all the time!”

The next day we were outside again playing with chalk, so I asked Molly to draw another whale (because she draws them all the time). It still looked like a whale…what a random thing for her to draw!!!

Molly and Taylor tend to encourage each other, so I guess with the positive reaction I gave to Molly about the Whale pushed Taylor into digging into her inner artistic abilities and pulled out this masterpiece…

Taylor then added rock eyes to my sun and drew a mouth…silly girl!

Happy Friday!!!

Summer is here!!!

Over Memorial Day weekend we took the girls camping for the first time. We went with a friend of Stuarts from grade school/JR. high/high school. He and his wife are just the sweetest couple, and they have four sweet girls to compliment them. The girls did pretty good with camping. We ate hotdogs and smores and stayed up way to late. The girls went to bed when we did which wasn’t until about midnight. That is the latest that they have ever stayed up, but they are such night owls I think they would do it all the time if we let them. I don’t think any of us got much sleep, but it was an experience that I wanted to share with them. I’m sure we will go again this summer.

Sitting by the camp fire...

This last weekend was so nice! Summer is here and I could not be happier about that!!!

Stuart and I had a free night on Friday, so we grilled out, and ate dinner on the back deck and also enjoyed a few adult beverages.

I picked up Molly and Taylor on Saturday morning and we headed to the Bentonville Aquatic center later that afternoon because we promised them we would go swimming. They had fun playing in the baby pool for about an hour; I have been spoiled with private pools and country clubs all my life that it’s hard for me to go to the public pool. I admit it...I’m a bit of a pool snob!

The pool is a short distance from our house so we loaded up in the Jeep...

Molly ready to go...

Taylor was a little camera shy...

Saturday night our friends Candace and Randy came over for hamburgers and hotdogs. They just got married a few weeks ago, and they are expecting a little boy in September.
Molly and Taylor had a great time playing with Candace’s little girl Colby. It was fun to watch the girls play while we were able to catch up.
The girls eating dinner...

Sunday we headed out to Stuarts dad’s house after church and played in the pool all afternoon. The sun was blazing and I was worried about the girls getting burnt, so I swear I was applying sunscreen every 30 minutes. We had a great time and I’m sure we will spend many weekends out there during the summer (you know, because I’m a pool snob and prefer those private pools).

Mother's Day Weekend and a Wedding!!!

We had such a great weekend despite the rainy weather. We were able to take advantage of the only sunny/dry part of the weekend on Saturday morning. We loaded the bikes onto the jeep and headed up to the square for a group bike ride. It was such a beautiful morning, I think Stuart was in a little more pain after the ride because he had the privilege of pulling an extra 80 lbs. :o). Molly and Taylor seemed to really enjoy it, so we are going to plan on adding in some bike rides as we get breaks with this rain. After we finished up we walked around the farmers market, ate some kettle corn, and listened to some blue grass music.

We headed down the mountain later that afternoon for a friend’s wedding. I went to the wedding a little early, so that I could help with the guest book. Jackie and Josh got married at 7:30 and it was such a beautiful service, they had a really fun reception after the wedding. We were able to hang out with my parents for a little bit and some friends we don’t get to see that often. We had a good time and stayed out way to late!

My mom and dad....

Me and Stuart...

And the happy bride...

Sunday we spent the day at my parents. I woke up to Molly and Taylor at my bedside with a flower. They delivered a little speech of Mother’s day blessings that was just so cute, and got me right out of bed. They were so sweet the whole day, it’s like they really wanted to make the day special for me. Stuart was not moving much that morning, so the girls and I met my parents at church and then went out for breakfast. We spent the day at my mom and dad’s, I got to take a nice Sunday nap, and then we stayed for a bbq chicken dinner.

Here are some pictures from Imagination Studio in Fayetteville from the weekend before that I forgot to post…
