Windows, Drapes, and Blinds...Oh my!!!

One of the many tasks on our, “to do” list is to paint all of the woodwork in our house white. I’ve wanted to do this ever since we moved in, and last weekend we decided to tackle 5 windows. I have already painted two window’s in the girls room and one in the bathroom, so I new it was going to be a chore.

I cleaned and taped on Thursday afternoon and then Stuart and I started painting at 9 a.m. on Friday morning. It took 1 coat of oil based primer that does not require sanding, and then 2 coats of kilz and 1 top coat of the paint. We had to stop around 2:30 p.m. to pick up the girls from school, but we were able to finish it up in about an hour after we got back to the house.

On Saturday we hung the drapes in the dining room, and put in 2 inch wood blinds in the kitchen. I really like the way it turned out! We still need to paint the windows in the living room, but Stuart went ahead and hung the drapes. I cannot believe what a difference window treatments will do to a house.

Hopefully, this new little update will motivate us to keep picking away at it!!!

Silent night, Holy night....

I think I have mentioned this before, but about two years ago we adapted the song, “Silent night” into our nighttime ritual. We sing it every night to the girls while rubbing their backs. Last night Molly started giggling when it was over and said, "That’s so funny mom." I asked her what was funny and she said that the song says, “Sleep n having peas.” I started to laugh right along with her, and said that the song is actually saying, “Sleep in heavenly peace.”
Silly Molly...

And her silly sister Taylor...

I LOVE these girls!!!

Labor Day Weekend!!!

Last weekend was Labor Day Weekend. We went to hang out in our downtown area on Friday night. They have live music, food, and some fun things to entertain the kiddo’s the first Friday of every month.

While we were there Molly and Taylor had their first experience with face painting.
The first few pictures are of Taylor...

The next pictures are of Molly...

On Saturday we headed South to visit my parents. You will notice in the pictures that my girls are wearing the same shirt that they did on Friday night. I just want to say that I did wash them on Saturday monring! The reason this happened is that their daddy dressed them on Friday and I was planning on having them wear the Arkansas shirts on Saturday because it was the first Razorback game of the season!
Not that It really matters, but I thought I would just clear that up.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL over the weekend. While at my parents we spent most of the time outside. The girls had a great time hunting “Acorns.” Papa gave them each a dollar for filling their buckets. I'm not really sure that he gave one to Mimi for helping them out....ha.

It has warmed back up quite a bit since last weekend, but the tease of that cooler weather has really made me ready for fall!!!

Tooth Score…Taylor 2 – Molly 1

Taylor lost her second tooth a few weeks ago, and I discoverd the other day that the one that she lost at Easter is starting to come in.

She was very concerned that the tooth fairy might not come,

but was happy to discover a two dollar bill under her pillow the next morning!
