No, I did not sign my girls up for Toddlers & Tiaras, but they did start tap and ballet classes this week!!!
I looked into the classes before Christmas and made the mistake of mentioning it to them. I say it was a mistake to mention it because they have been asking and asking me when they were going to start ever since. We were just going to go for a trial class this week, but after seeing how excited they were I was pretty sure they were going to fall in love with dance class.
We went to Payless on Monday night to take advantage of the BOGO shoe sale and got two sets of tap shoes and two sets of ballet slippers. I then made my way to two different Wal-Marts to get leotards and tights. After this investment I began to get nervous because my mom told me that when I was about their age she signed me up for dance class. She thought that I would just love it, because I was a very girly girl and I was always dancing around the house. When she took me to my class, I was like a deer in the headlights. I would not participate and when it came to the recital I was that girl twirling in the opposite direction than everyone else.
Maybe I needed a twin sister by my side as a confidence booster, because these two did great!!!
We walked in the door and they were so excited to get in that dance room. They briefly met their teacher and were saying their good-bye’s and went into that room without looking back. I of course stood by the window and watched. They did not take their eyes off of their instructor and mimicked her every move. They did 30 minutes of ballet and then came running out so excited to tell me that it was not over they just needed their tap shoes.
I was going back and forth on whether or not to post pictures of their first night of dance class because...

1. They are so blurry, and....
2. I am a bad mom and did not invest in a skirt or tutu, and did not find out until the night of their class that their leotards and tights were see thru and you can clearly see their underwear.
I decided to go ahead and post the pictures, and the main reason is because of the little girl sitting behind Molly and Taylor…
Me: “Molly and Taylor show me your dance moves…

Me: "Look at mommy. Smile...

Me: "Give a little twirl...

Me: "Blah, blah, blah....

Girl in the back thinking:
“Gezz lady, get out of here with that camera already. And take these two with you:”
I have no doubt that this was the best “first” extra curricular activity we could have started them out in, and I can’t wait until that first recital!
